Understanding the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP)

As REALTORS® it is important to understand the influence of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) on real estate in Hawaii. Whether your clients realizes it or not, they live in a flood zone, and those zones can have a tremendous impact on insurance and building codes.

In this special presentation Carol Tyau-Beam, from the Department of Land and Natural Resources, shares her knowledge of the NFIP, Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM), floodplain management, and regulations as they relate to real estate in the State of Hawaii, and more specifically, Oahu.

Originally broadcast live on January 20th, 2015 as part of the RE/MAX Prestige Collaborative Learning series.
